- You are pretty mean! (ill-natured) / or: That was pretty mean, don't you think!

*Did you notice a different than the last time usage of "kekkou"?

A: あたしたちいい友達になりそうね!
B: どこが。
A: あなたも私も嘘つきだから。
B:一緒にしないでください。

A: Atashitachi ii tomodachi ni narisou ne.
B: Doko ga?
A: Anata mo atashi mo uso-tsuki dakara.
B: Isshouni shinaide kudasai!

- It seems we'll be good friends.
- Why?/What makes you say that? (literally: "where?"; not so elegant language)
- Because we're both liars.
- Speak for yourself!

Japanese greetings As you may already know, we use certain language patterns in Japanese. It's the same rule, as in English, when you ask a person "How are you?", before actually talking to them. They are customary. Continuing with Hirugao! How was the first episode? Did you find all expressions covered in our previous posts? This week we are going to go through the second episode, so prepare your brains! After you learned the quotes, watch the second episode of Hirugao and catch'em all! Expressions 全然似てない! Zen-zen ni-tenai. - It doesn't resemble you at all. あいつは喧嘩売ってるだけなんだ、俺に。 Aitsu ha kenka utteru dake nanda, ore ni. - He just was picking the fight with me/ He was just provoking me. note: In colloquial language, especially in spoken Japanese,  particles and 'i' from 'iru' may be omitted. Lesson for today is from a hilarious recent drama "Hirugao". I will post more expressions from the first episode soon. Don't worry if you don't know all grammatical structures. Try to understand their context and read the translation! Short expressions そんな冷たいこと言わないで!   sonna tsumetai koto iwanaide - Don't say such hurtful things./Don't be so cold hearted. あの、お怪我は大丈夫ですか?   ano.. o-kega ha daijoubu desuka? - Excuse me, but is how is your injury?
